Accident Reconstruction

Initial Case Review and Consultation

Preliminary assessment of the available facts, evidence, and documentation related to the incident. This phase includes reviewing reports, photographs, video, and vehicle or scene data to identify key issues, determine whether a full reconstruction is warranted, and outline potential investigative approaches. The consultation also allows for early identification of evidentiary needs, preservation concerns, and estimated scope, timeline, and costs for further analysis.

Scene & Evidence Analysis

Systematic examination of the crash location and all physical evidence to document and preserve critical information. This includes evaluating roadway conditions, traffic control devices, lighting, and sight distances, as well as measuring and analyzing tire marks, vehicle damage, debris fields, and impact points. The goal is to accurately document the scene, correlate physical evidence with vehicle dynamics, and establish a reliable foundation for subsequent reconstruction and analysis.

Data & Technology

Event Data Recorder (EDR) analysis involves the secure retrieval and interpretation of pre-crash data from a vehicle’s onboard systems. This data may include vehicle speed, braking, throttle input, seatbelt usage, and airbag deployment timing. Proper EDR analysis follows manufacturer-approved procedures and chain-of-custody standards to ensure data integrity, allowing the information to be correlated with physical evidence and used to support reconstruction findings.

Human Factors

Examination of the role of driver perception, decision-making, and response in the events leading up to a crash. This includes evaluating perception–reaction time, visibility, attention, potential distraction or impairment, and compliance with traffic control devices. The analysis helps determine how human behavior and environmental conditions may have influenced actions taken before and during the incident, supporting conclusions about causation and contributing factors.

Deliverables

Typically include a comprehensive written report summarizing methods, findings, assumptions, and conclusions, supported by photographs, diagrams, calculations, and data summaries. Depending on case needs, deliverables may also include scaled scene diagrams, timelines, EDR data reports, and 3D visualizations. All deliverables are prepared to meet evidentiary, disclosure, and professional standards and may be used for internal review, claims handling, or legal proceedings.

Expert Testimony

Expert testimony services include providing clear, objective opinions based on accepted scientific and engineering principles. This may involve deposition and courtroom testimony, preparation of exhibits and demonstratives, and assistance with understanding technical findings. Testimony is delivered in a professional, unbiased manner and is supported by documented analyses and methodologies that meet legal and evidentiary standards.
